Planning a Pakistan to Vietnam trip is easier than most people think. There is no embassy appointment and no sponsor letter: Pakistani passport holders apply for Vietnam’s official e-Visa online, the fee is US$25, and the decision is due within three working days. What takes real planning is everything around the visa: which airline connects your city to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, what a ticket costs in rupees, how to fit Ha Long Bay into a week, and where to find halal food.
This guide covers the whole Pakistan to Vietnam journey: routes and ticket prices, a full trip budget in PKR, an 8-day Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City plan, and practical tips on money, food and weather. The visa itself is explained step by step in our Vietnam visit visa from Pakistan guide; here we summarise it and focus on the trip. Visa fees and processing times were re-checked on official Vietnamese government pages on 26 October 2026.

Pakistan to Vietnam at a Glance: Why It Works for Pakistani Travellers

Vietnam has become one of the most practical long-haul holidays for Pakistani families and couples. The paperwork is fully online, the country is long and varied, and daily costs on the ground are lower than in Malaysia or Singapore. In one week you can walk the lanes of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, sleep on a boat among the limestone islands of Ha Long Bay, eat by lantern light in Hoi An and finish in the busy streets of Ho Chi Minh City.
Three things make a Pakistan to Vietnam trip easy to plan:
- The visa is online. Since August 2023 Vietnam issues e-Visas to citizens of every country, valid for up to 90 days, so there is no embassy queue.
- The flight is one connection. Thai, Malaysian and Gulf carriers link Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with a single change.
- The route is simple. The classic north-to-south line, Hanoi to Ha Long Bay to Hoi An to Ho Chi Minh City, joins up with two short domestic flights.
The trade-offs are distance and the visa timeline. Vietnam is about 3,300 km from Lahore and further from Karachi, so the ticket is the biggest cost, and the e-Visa must be approved before you board. Plan around those two and the rest is straightforward. If you are comparing Vietnam with places that need even less paperwork, our list of visa-free and on-arrival countries for Pakistan puts it in context.
Vietnam e-Visa for Pakistanis: Fee, Processing Time and Rules

Pakistan is not on Vietnam’s visa-exemption list, so every Pakistani traveller needs a visa. The good news is that the official e-Visa is open to all nationalities. The Immigration Department under Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security lists the fee and the timeline plainly, and both were the same when we checked on 26 October 2026.
What the e-Visa costs
| e-Visa type | Official fee | Approx. in PKR |
|---|---|---|
| Single entry, up to 90 days | US$25 | about PKR 6,900 |
| Multiple entry, up to 90 days | US$50 | about PKR 13,850 |
PKR figures use the 26 October 2026 market rate of about PKR 277 per US dollar. The fee is paid online by card and is not refunded if the application is refused. Most holidaymakers only need the single-entry e-Visa; choose multiple entry if you plan a side trip to Cambodia or Thailand and want to re-enter Vietnam.
How long it takes
The official processing time is within three working days after the fee is received. Weekends and Vietnamese public holidays do not count, and files that are sent for further verification can take up to about 15 working days. The result is not emailed: you check it with your registration code, email and date of birth on the portal, then print the e-Visa and carry it with your passport.
What you need
- A passport valid for at least six months on arrival, with a clear photo or scan of the bio-data page.
- A recent 4×6 cm portrait photo, looking straight at the camera, without glasses.
- Your planned entry date, entry airport and an address in Vietnam (your first hotel is fine).
- A card for the online payment.
Apply only on the two official portals, evisa.gov.vn and thithucdientu.gov.vn. Lookalike websites charge several times the official fee for the same form. Because a refused or delayed file can wreck non-refundable bookings, apply at least two to three weeks before you fly. For the full document checklist, the screens of the form and the common mistakes Pakistani applicants make, read the step-by-step Vietnam e-Visa guide.
Pakistan to Vietnam Flights from Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad

There is no regular direct flight between Pakistan and Vietnam at the moment, so every Pakistan to Vietnam journey connects once. The good part is that you have several sensible hubs, and the best one depends on your city and whether you fly into Hanoi in the north or Ho Chi Minh City in the south.
| From | Common one-stop routings | Arrive at |
|---|---|---|
| Lahore | Thai Airways via Bangkok; Batik Air Malaysia via Kuala Lumpur; Etihad via Abu Dhabi; Emirates via Dubai | Hanoi (HAN), Ho Chi Minh City (SGN), Da Nang (DAD) |
| Karachi | Thai Airways via Bangkok; Batik Air Malaysia via Kuala Lumpur; Etihad via Abu Dhabi; Qatar Airways via Doha | Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang |
| Islamabad | Qatar Airways via Doha; Etihad via Abu Dhabi; Emirates via Dubai | Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City |
Routings change by season, so treat the table as a guide to where to search rather than a timetable. As a rough rule, the South-East Asian hubs (Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur) give the shortest total journey, while the Gulf hubs sometimes give lower fares or better timings from your city.
How long the journey takes
Expect about 10 to 18 hours door to door, depending on the layover. Lahore to Hanoi is roughly 3,300 km in a straight line, Islamabad to Hanoi about 3,500 km and Karachi to Ho Chi Minh City about 4,400 km, but the connection adds distance and time.
Booking tips for Pakistani travellers
- Book an open-jaw ticket. Fly into Hanoi and home from Ho Chi Minh City (search “multi-city”). You avoid flying back up the country and often pay close to a normal return.
- Keep both flights on one ticket. If the first flight is late, the airline must rebook you. Two separate tickets put that risk on you.
- Check the transit rules. Staying airside in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Doha, Abu Dhabi or Dubai on a single ticket normally needs no transit visa, but confirm with the airline for your exact routing.
- Match the e-Visa to the airport. Enter through the airport you plan to use; all of Vietnam’s international airports accept e-Visa holders.
If a Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur layover tempts you to stay a few days, our Thailand trip guide and Malaysia trip from Pakistan planner explain the extra visa you would need.
Pakistan to Vietnam Ticket Price and Full Trip Cost in PKR

The Pakistan to Vietnam ticket price is the single biggest line in your budget. These are economy fares seen on airline and travel-search pages on 26 October 2026 for dates in the next two to three months. Fares move daily, so use them as a guide, not a quote.
| Route | Fares seen (economy) |
|---|---|
| Lahore to Hanoi, return | from about PKR 146,000 (Etihad, late October); PKR 310,000 on Thai Airways for early December |
| Lahore to Ho Chi Minh City, return | from about PKR 194,000; PKR 305,000 on Thai Airways over the New Year |
| Karachi to Ho Chi Minh City, return | from about PKR 170,000 |
| Karachi to Hanoi, return | from about PKR 195,000; one-way from about PKR 79,000 |
| Islamabad to Ho Chi Minh City, return | from about PKR 193,000 (Qatar Airways) |
| Islamabad to Hanoi, return | from about PKR 218,000 |
In short, a realistic return ticket from Pakistan is roughly PKR 150,000 to 310,000. School holidays, the December break and Eid push prices to the top of that range; booking six to eight weeks ahead usually helps.
Full 8-day trip budget per person
This estimate assumes two adults sharing a 3-star room, a mid-range overnight Ha Long Bay cruise and two domestic flights. Costs on the ground use the 26 October 2026 rate of about PKR 10.7 per 1,000 Vietnamese dong.
| Item | Budget (PKR) | Comfortable (PKR) |
|---|---|---|
| Return flight from Pakistan | 150,000 | 310,000 |
| e-Visa (single entry, US$25) | 6,900 | 6,900 |
| Hotels, 6 nights (half a twin room) | 21,000 | 46,000 |
| Ha Long Bay cruise, 1 night, with shuttle from Hanoi | 41,000 | 97,000 |
| Two domestic flights | 16,000 | 40,000 |
| Food, mostly halal restaurants, 8 days | 33,000 | 55,000 |
| Local transport, entry tickets, SIM | 15,000 | 30,000 |
| Travel insurance | 3,000 | 8,000 |
| Total per person | about 286,000 | about 593,000 |
So plan on about PKR 285,000 to 595,000 per person for a Pakistan to Vietnam trip, flights included. Cruise prices are based on published 2026 rates of roughly US$108 to 300 per person for two days and one night; children often pay less, and a family of four can share one larger hotel room in most cities. Shopping, spa visits and extra excursions such as the Mekong Delta or Cu Chi tunnels are on top.

8-Day Vietnam Itinerary: Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City

This plan follows the classic north-to-south route, uses an open-jaw ticket (into Hanoi, out of Ho Chi Minh City) and keeps transfers short. It suits a first visit for families, couples and small groups.
Day 1: Arrive in Hanoi
Land at Noi Bai airport, show your printed e-Visa and take a ride-hailing car into the city (about 45 minutes). Stay in or near the Old Quarter. In the evening, walk around Hoan Kiem Lake and cross the red Huc Bridge to Ngoc Son Temple.
Day 2: Hanoi
Start at the Temple of Literature, then see the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum complex and the One Pillar Pagoda (check opening days before you go). After lunch, explore the Old Quarter’s craft streets and catch a water puppet show. For Maghrib and dinner, head to the Al-Noor Mosque on Hang Luoc street, which has halal eateries close by.
Day 3: Ha Long Bay overnight cruise
A shuttle bus collects you early for the drive of about 2.5 to 3 hours to the bay. Board your cruise around midday, then spend the afternoon among the limestone islands: a cave visit, kayaking or a bamboo boat ride where allowed, and sunset from the deck. Ask your operator in advance for seafood or vegetarian meals, or choose a ship that offers a halal kitchen.
Day 4: Ha Long to Hoi An
Morning on the water, then brunch and the transfer back towards Hanoi. Take an evening flight from Hanoi to Da Nang (about 1 hour 20 minutes) and a 45-minute drive to Hoi An.
Day 5: Hoi An
Explore the Ancient Town early, before the heat and the crowds: the Japanese Covered Bridge, old merchant houses and the riverside market. Have a suit or dress tailored in a day if you like. In the evening the streets fill with silk lanterns and boats float candles on the Thu Bon river.
Day 6: Da Nang and fly south
Spend the morning on My Khe beach or visit the Marble Mountains, then fly from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City (about 1 hour 15 minutes).
Day 7: Ho Chi Minh City
Visit the Central Post Office, the Independence Palace and the War Remnants Museum, then shop at Ben Thanh Market. Pray Asr or Maghrib at the Saigon Central Mosque on Dong Du street, surrounded by halal restaurants. With an extra day, add a Mekong Delta boat trip or the Cu Chi tunnels.
Day 8: Fly home
Keep the morning for last shopping and allow three hours at Tan Son Nhat airport before your flight back to Pakistan. On the return leg of a Pakistan to Vietnam open-jaw ticket, check that the connection time at your hub is at least two hours.
Short on time? Cut Hoi An and fly Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City directly. More time? Add a night in Ninh Binh near Hanoi or a beach stay on Phu Quoc island. If you want to add Angkor Wat, our Cambodia e-Visa guide for Pakistanis explains the second visa.
Getting Around Vietnam: Domestic Flights, Trains and Ride Apps

Once you land, remember that Vietnam is about 1,650 km from north to south, so flying is the sensible way to cover the long legs on a short holiday. Domestic flights are frequent, short and reasonably priced.
| Leg | Flight time | Fares seen from (one way) |
|---|---|---|
| Hanoi to Da Nang | about 1 h 20 min | about VND 966,000 (PKR 10,400) |
| Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City | about 1 h 15 min | about VND 666,000 (PKR 7,100) |
| Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City | about 2 h 10 min | about VND 888,000 (PKR 9,500) |
The lowest fares often exclude checked bags, so budget about PKR 8,000 to 20,000 per leg with luggage. Vietnam Airlines, the national carrier, flies all three routes; on a booking you will see its two-letter code VN, and you can look up Vietnam Airlines’ VN code and Hanoi hub on IATA.co if you want to match flight numbers to the airline. The budget carrier VietJet also flies these routes.
Trains, buses and cars
- Train: the Reunification Express line is slow but scenic. The stretch between Hue and Da Nang over the Hai Van Pass is worth doing by train if you have a spare half day.
- Ha Long transfers: cruise companies run shuttle buses from the Old Quarter; a private car suits families with elderly parents.
- In cities: ride-hailing apps such as Grab show the price before you book and avoid haggling. Motorbike taxis are cheap, but cars are safer with children.
- Hoi An: the Ancient Town is mostly walkable, and bicycles are easy to rent.
Leave a buffer of a few hours between a domestic flight and any onward booking. Delays are common in the rainy months, and Ha Long cruises can be cancelled at short notice when the authorities close the bay for storms.
Halal Food, Mosques and Vietnam Currency to PKR

Vietnam is not a Muslim-majority country, but halal food is easier to find than many Pakistani travellers expect, especially in the two big cities.
Halal food and prayer
- Hanoi: the Al-Noor Mosque on Hang Luoc street in the Old Quarter is Hanoi’s best-known mosque, with halal eateries next to it and Indian and Malaysian halal restaurants a short walk away.
- Ho Chi Minh City: the Saigon Central Mosque (Jamia Al-Muslimin) on Dong Du street in District 1 is surrounded by halal restaurants serving Malaysian and Indian food.
- Ha Long Bay and Hoi An: halal options are limited. Ask cruise operators and hotels about halal meals in writing before you book, or choose seafood and vegetarian dishes.
- Street food: pho, banh mi and spring rolls usually contain pork or pork stock. Look for a halal certificate or eat at Muslim-run stalls.
Use a prayer-time app for Jumu’ah timings and pack a travel prayer mat; most hotels will give you a qibla direction if you ask.
Vietnam currency to PKR
Vietnam’s currency is the dong (VND). Prices run into large numbers, which confuses many first-time visitors. On 26 October 2026 the market rate was about:
| Vietnamese dong | Approx. Pakistani rupees |
|---|---|
| VND 10,000 | PKR 107 |
| VND 100,000 | PKR 1,072 |
| VND 500,000 | PKR 5,360 |
| VND 1,000,000 | PKR 10,720 |
| US$1 | about VND 25,830 (PKR 277) |
A quick rule: drop the last three zeros of a dong price and multiply by about 10.7 to get rupees. Pakistani rupees are hard to exchange in Vietnam, so carry US dollars in clean, newer notes and change them at banks or licensed exchange counters in the city. Cards work in hotels, malls and larger restaurants; carry cash for markets, small eateries and taxis. Tell your bank before you travel so your card is not blocked.
Best Time to Visit Vietnam from Pakistan

The best time to visit Vietnam depends on which region you care about most, because the north, centre and south have different weather at the same time of year.
| Region | Best months | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| North: Hanoi, Ha Long Bay | October to November, March to April | Cool, grey days from December to February; hot, humid summers |
| Centre: Hoi An, Da Nang | February to August | Heavy rain and storms from about September to December |
| South: Ho Chi Minh City | December to April (dry season) | Short daily downpours from May to November |
For the full north-to-south route, March and April are the best balance: the north is mild, the centre is dry and the south is warm before the rains. February to early March is also good once the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday is over, because transport and prices spike during Tet. October and November are lovely in Hanoi and Ha Long but can be wet in Hoi An.
For Pakistani families booking a Pakistan to Vietnam holiday, the spring break and the December winter holidays fit well. In December, pack a light jacket for Hanoi and Ha Long evenings and summer clothes for Ho Chi Minh City. Avoid flying in the week of Eid if you want lower fares.
