Ramadan Umrah from Pakistan is the trip many families save for over years: Taraweeh in Masjid al-Haram, iftar on the marble courtyard, and the hope of standing in Makkah on one of the last ten nights. It is also the hardest Umrah of the year to plan well. Hotels near the Haram cost the most, flights fill early, the Grand Mosque reaches its annual peak, and the Umrah season itself closes on Eid day. A family that books in November travels very differently from one that starts looking in late January.
This guide is about timing and planning for Ramadan 1448, which is expected to begin around 8 February 2027. It covers the expected dates, how to choose between the first, middle and last ten days, the visa deadlines that matter in Ramadan, realistic PKR price ranges by ashra, a month-by-month booking timeline, Nusuk permits and Rawdah booking, crowd rules inside the Haram and practical fasting tips. The visa process itself is explained step by step in our Umrah visa from Pakistan guide, so here we only summarise it. Every rule below was re-checked on official Saudi sources on 31 October 2026.

Ramadan Umrah from Pakistan: Expected 2027 Dates and Deadlines

Ramadan follows the lunar Hijri calendar, so it moves about 11 days earlier every year. For 1448 AH, Saudi Arabia’s official Umm al-Qura calendar lists 1 Ramadan as Monday 8 February 2027 and 1 Shawwal, the day of Eid al-Fitr, as Tuesday 9 March 2027. That gives a 29-day month on the calendar. In practice, the start of fasting is confirmed by the moon-sighting announcement on the evening of 29 Sha’ban, so treat every date below as an estimate that can shift by one day.
| Period | Hijri dates | Expected Gregorian dates |
|---|---|---|
| Start of Sha’ban | 1 Sha’ban 1448 | Saturday 9 January 2027 |
| First ten days | 1 to 10 Ramadan | 8 to 17 February 2027 |
| Middle ten days | 11 to 20 Ramadan | 18 to 27 February 2027 |
| Last ten nights | 21 to 29 or 30 Ramadan | From the evening of 27 February to about 8 March 2027 |
| 27th night | Night before 27 Ramadan | Evening of Friday 5 March 2027 |
| Eid al-Fitr | 1 Shawwal 1448 | Around Tuesday 9 March 2027 |
Remember that an Islamic night begins at sunset. The 21st night, the first of the odd nights many pilgrims seek for Laylat al-Qadr, is expected to start on the evening of 27 February 2027, not on 28 February. The other odd nights are expected to fall on the evenings of 1, 3, 5 and 7 March. If you want to be in Makkah for all of them, land in Jeddah no later than 26 or 27 February.
The season deadlines that decide your Ramadan plan
Umrah visas are issued in seasons. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced the 1448 AH Umrah season calendar in May 2026 (also reported by the Saudi Press Agency): visa issuing began on 31 May 2026, and three closing dates follow Ramadan:
- 9 March 2027 (1 Shawwal 1448): last day for issuing Umrah visas. This is Eid day, so every Ramadan visa must already be issued by then.
- 23 March 2027 (15 Shawwal): last day for Umrah pilgrims to enter Saudi Arabia.
- 7 April 2027 (30 Shawwal): last day for Umrah pilgrims to leave the Kingdom.
For a Ramadan Umrah from Pakistan, the first deadline is the one that bites. Families who leave the visa until the last week of Ramadan are applying at the busiest moment of the whole season, with no room to fix a mistake before visa issuing closes. The general rules (passport, photo, Nusuk package, insurance) are the same as any other month and are covered in our Umrah visa requirements guide.
First, Middle or Last Ten Days: Which Ramadan Ashra Suits You

Most Pakistani families cannot take a whole month off, so the real question when planning a Ramadan Umrah from Pakistan is which ten days to choose. Each ashra feels different, costs different and suits different people. There is no wrong answer; an Umrah in any part of Ramadan carries the virtue described in the hadith quoted in the Ministry’s own guide: “An Umrah in Ramadan equals a Hajj.”
First ten days (expected 8 to 17 February 2027)
The first ashra is the calmest and the cheapest part of the month. Hotels close to the Haram are easier to find, the Mataf is busy but manageable, and you have time to settle into suhoor and iftar routines. It suits first-time pilgrims, elderly parents, families with young children and anyone travelling on a tighter budget. Many families combine it with Madinah first, then Makkah, and return home for the second half of Ramadan.
Middle ten days (expected 18 to 27 February 2027)
The middle ashra is a balance. Prices rise steadily through this period, and the crowd builds towards the last ten nights. A popular plan is to arrive in the middle of the month, spend a week in Madinah and move to Makkah just before the 21st night, so you see both cities and catch the start of the last ten nights without paying full last-ashra rates for every night.
Last ten nights (expected 27 February to 8 March 2027)
The last ashra is what most people imagine when they think of Ramadan Umrah: Qiyam prayers late into the night, the search for Laylat al-Qadr, Khatm al-Quran and, for some, Eid prayer in the Haram. It is also the most crowded part of the year at Masjid al-Haram and by far the most expensive.
Prayer spaces can fill long before Isha, vehicle access to the central area is restricted at peak times, and walking even 600 metres can take a long time. It suits healthy adults who can handle long nights on their feet. For elders, babies or anyone with a medical condition, think carefully and read our family Umrah package guide first.
Quick way to decide
- Budget or first Umrah: first ashra.
- Both cities, moderate cost: middle ashra into the first nights of the last ten.
- Laylat al-Qadr is the priority and you are fit: last ten nights, booked early.
- Elderly parents or small children: first or middle ashra, with a hotel close to the Haram.
- Eid in Makkah or Madinah: possible, but your exit must be before 7 April 2027 and return flights after Eid are often the hardest seats to find.
Umrah Visa for Ramadan: Fee, Timing and Who Needs What

There is no special “Ramadan visa” for a Ramadan Umrah from Pakistan. Pilgrims use the normal Umrah visa, which is issued together with a Nusuk-qualifying package of hotel and transport bookings in Saudi Arabia. Easy Visa handles your Umrah visa together with that package, so the hotel nights, transfers and visa dates all match. In short:
- Fee: the Saudi government Umrah visa fee is SAR 300 per person, plus mandatory Saudi medical insurance. Every traveller, including babies, needs their own visa.
- Passport: a Pakistani passport valid for at least six months, with blank pages.
- Stay: up to 90 days, but a Ramadan visa cannot carry you past the 7 April 2027 departure deadline.
- Movement: the Umrah visa lets you travel between Makkah, Madinah and other Saudi cities during your stay, and you can enter and leave through any international airport.
- Processing: Saudi Arabia does not publish a processing time for Pakistan. We plan 3 to 5 working days in normal months.
How early to apply in Ramadan
The visa is applied for once the package is final, because the hotel and transport bookings travel with it. For Ramadan we suggest:
- Book the package and flights in November or December.
- Submit the visa 3 to 4 weeks before your flight, once names, passport numbers and dates are final.
- Never leave a last-ashra visa to the final week of Ramadan. Demand is at its peak and the issuing window closes on 9 March 2027.
- Do not buy non-refundable extras until the visa is issued.
Already have a different Saudi visa?
The Nusuk Umrah page confirms that holders of visit, tourist and work visas can also perform Umrah, provided they get the Nusuk permit. If a family member already holds a Saudi visit visa, check our Saudi visa types for Pakistanis and Saudi visit visa fee pages before booking, because a visit visa has its own rules and dates. For everyone else, the Umrah visa is the simplest route in Ramadan, and our Umrah visa from Pakistan guide lists the documents in full.
Ramadan Umrah Package Cost from Pakistan by Ashra

A Ramadan Umrah from Pakistan is the most expensive Umrah of the year, and the price is driven mostly by the hotel. Makkah hotels close to the Haram set their own Ramadan rates, the last ten nights cost far more than the first ten, and flights rise as Ramadan approaches. To give a real picture, we checked advertised Ramadan 2027 package prices on several Pakistani Umrah websites on 31 October 2026. These are starting prices per person for quad sharing (four to a room), usually including visa, insurance, return flights, hotels and transfers.
| Ramadan period (expected) | Typical length | Advertised starting price per person (quad) |
|---|---|---|
| First ten days (8 to 17 Feb 2027) | 14 to 15 nights | About PKR 300,000 to 360,000 |
| Middle ten days (18 to 27 Feb 2027) | 14 to 15 nights | About PKR 335,000 to 400,000 |
| Last ten nights (27 Feb to 8 Mar 2027) | 10 to 15 nights | About PKR 500,000 to 650,000 |
| Last ten nights, closer hotel, double room | About 14 nights | PKR 850,000 and above |
| For comparison: a November 2026 package | 10 nights | From about PKR 290,000 |
Estimates only: advertised starting prices seen on Pakistani agency websites on 31 October 2026, not Easy Visa quotes. Prices change with the rupee-riyal rate, airfares and hotel availability, and a lower headline price often means a hotel far from the Haram or a shared room for five or six.
What moves the price in Ramadan
- Hotel distance in Makkah. In the last ten nights, a hotel 300 metres from the Haram and one 1.5 km away can differ by a lakh rupees or more per person. The distant one also means long walks or shuttle waits at 2 am.
- Room sharing. Quad and triple rooms keep the per-person cost down. Double rooms cost the most.
- Nights split. Madinah nights are often cheaper than Makkah nights in the last ten days, so a Madinah-first plan can lower the bill.
- Flight timing. Departures just before the 21st night and returns just after Eid are the most sought-after seats.
- Booking date. The closest hotels for the last ten nights are usually the first to go; late bookers pay more for less.

Ramadan Umrah Booking Timeline and Flights from Pakistan

A Ramadan Umrah from Pakistan works best when it is planned backwards from the night you want to be in Makkah. Here is the timeline we use for Ramadan 1448.
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| November 2026 | Choose your ashra and city order. Check every passport has at least six months of validity, and renew children’s passports early. Ask for written package quotes. |
| By mid-December 2026 | Confirm flights and hotels, especially for the last ten nights and for return flights after Eid. |
| January 2027 (Sha’ban begins around 9 January) | Get vaccines and the NADRA vaccination certificate. Polio is recommended at least 4 weeks before arrival. |
| 3 to 4 weeks before the flight | Final names and dates; the Umrah visa is submitted with the package. |
| After the visa is issued | Install the Nusuk app, link your visa, and plan your Umrah permit and Rawdah booking. |
| By 9 March 2027 | Last day any Umrah visa can be issued this season. |
Flights from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad
Most Pakistani pilgrims fly to Jeddah, the main airport for Makkah, and some fly straight into Madinah. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Saudia and airblue all fly between Pakistan and Jeddah, and PIA and airblue also run Madinah flights from some cities; schedules change, so check each airline’s current timetable for your dates.
flynas, the Saudi low-cost carrier, currently markets Karachi to Jeddah and Karachi to Madinah, while its Lahore and Islamabad flights go to Riyadh and Dammam, so travellers from those cities would need a connection. Its two-letter code on tickets is XY, and a quick look at flynas’ XY code and Riyadh base on IATA.co is handy when you are reading an itinerary with a connection. Low-cost fares often exclude checked baggage, so compare the full fare, including bags and any Zamzam allowance.
If you fly into Jeddah, the miqat is crossed in the air, so most pilgrims put on ihram before boarding in Karachi, Lahore or Islamabad and make their intention when the crew announces the miqat. If you fly into Madinah first, you put on ihram later, at Dhul Hulayfah (Abyar Ali) on the way to Makkah. Book the Madinah-first plan if your elders need a gentler start.
Getting between the cities
The Haramain high-speed train links Jeddah airport, Makkah and Madinah. The Nusuk FAQ notes that Makkah station is about 3.5 km from the Haram and Madinah station about 9 km from the Prophet’s Mosque, with shuttle buses in between. In the last ten nights, vehicle access near the Haram is restricted at peak times, so your transfer may drop you at a set point and you will walk the rest. Pack light enough to pull your own bag.
Nusuk Permits, Rawdah and Crowd Rules in Ramadan

For a Ramadan Umrah from Pakistan, the rules inside the Holy Mosques matter as much as the visa. They are stricter than in other months, because the numbers are so high. Knowing them saves hours of walking and a lot of stress.
The Nusuk Umrah permit
The visa gets you into Saudi Arabia; the Umrah permit gets you into the ritual. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Umrah Guide says a permit must be obtained through the Nusuk app before heading to Makkah or the Grand Mosque, and that pilgrims should perform the rituals at their designated time. You choose a date and time slot in the app. Book your slot as soon as you know your arrival time, and choose a slot a few hours after landing so a delayed flight does not make you miss it.
One Umrah, especially in the last ten nights
The Ministry’s guide advises that “performing only one Umrah during peak seasons and crowded days helps reduce congestion”. In recent Ramadans the Ministry has asked pilgrims to perform Umrah only once during the last ten days, and Nusuk has at times refused a second permit in Ramadan. Plan for one Umrah in Ramadan, and spend the rest of your time in prayer, Quran recitation and Taraweeh.
The Mataf ground floor is for pilgrims in ihram
During Ramadan 1447, the Ministry announced that the Mataf ground level is designated for Umrah performers only, with Tawaf also available on the upper floors according to capacity. In practice, if you are not in ihram for your Umrah, you will be directed to the upper floors or other prayer areas. Wheelchair and electric-cart Tawaf takes place on the first and second floors. The General Authority also runs a live crowd-density service for the Mataf and Sa’i, linked from the same Ministry announcement, which helps you choose the quieter floor.
Best and worst hours for Umrah in Ramadan
From crowd data in the first two weeks of Ramadan 2026, the Ministry identified the busiest hours at the Grand Mosque as 4 pm to 10 pm and 5 am to 8 am. Moderate crowds were seen between 11 pm and 4 am, and the lightest period was 8 am to 3 pm. Fasting makes the daytime window tiring, but for elders and families an Umrah started around 9 or 10 am, after rest, is often the most comfortable choice.
Rawdah in Madinah
Visiting the Rawdah needs a free Rawdah permit booked in Nusuk, issued to each named person. The Ministry has said a new Rawdah permit can be issued 365 days after the previous one, so if you visited within the last year, the app may not offer you a slot. Men and women have separate times.
The current non-Ramadan schedule announced by the Saudi Press Agency in October 2026 gives men 2 am to Fajr and 11:20 am to Isha on weekdays, and women after Fajr to 11 am and after Isha to 2 am. Ramadan timings may change, so check the slots in the app. Book as soon as your visa is linked, because Ramadan slots go quickly.
I’tikaf is by registration only
I’tikaf in the Holy Mosques during the last ten days is organised by registration. For Ramadan 1447, the General Authority opened i’tikaf registration on 3 Ramadan, with i’tikaf running from 20 Ramadan to the end of the month and places allocated by capacity. An Umrah visa or package does not include an i’tikaf place, so plan your trip around Qiyam and Taraweeh, not around a guaranteed i’tikaf spot.
Fasting, Health and Practical Tips for Pakistani Pilgrims

A Ramadan Umrah from Pakistan combines fasting, long nights and heavy walking. A few health and practical steps make the difference between a blessed trip and an exhausting one.
Vaccines, with Ramadan dates worked out
The Saudi Ministry of Health Umrah health requirements say everyone arriving from Pakistan, regardless of age, needs at least one dose of polio vaccine (bOPV or IPV), recommended at least 4 weeks before arrival. Every pilgrim also needs a meningococcal ACYW vaccine at least 10 days before arrival. COVID-19 proof is required only for higher-risk groups such as people over 65, pregnant women and people with chronic illness. The Ministry’s current document is for the 1447H season, and the 1448H version has not been published yet, so we will re-check it before Ramadan.
- Arriving around 6 February (first ashra): polio by about 9 January, meningitis by about 27 January.
- Arriving around 26 February (last ten nights): polio by about 29 January, meningitis by about 16 February.
Where to get the vaccines in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, and how to get the NADRA vaccination certificate, is covered in our Umrah vaccination requirements guide.
Fasting while travelling
The Quran allows travellers to make up missed fasts later (Surah al-Baqarah, 2:184 to 185), and many pilgrims choose not to fast on the long travel day itself. Ask your own scholar for your situation. Once you are in Makkah or Madinah, a few habits help:
- Drink water steadily between iftar and suhoor; Zamzam is available throughout both mosques.
- Eat a proper suhoor with protein, dates and fruit, and avoid very salty food that makes thirst worse.
- Rest during the day if you plan to stay for Qiyam at night.
- Carry a small prayer mat and a light shawl; the air-conditioned halls are cold at night.
- Keep medicines in original packaging with prescriptions, and do not skip diabetes or blood pressure medicine because of the fast without your doctor’s advice.
Elders, women and children in the Ramadan crowd
Free manual wheelchairs and carts are available at both Holy Mosques, and the Nusuk FAQ lists more than 5,000 regular carts and about 3,000 electric carts at the Grand Mosque. Women can perform Umrah without a mahram. In the last ten nights, agree a fixed meeting point by gate number, write your hotel name on a card for each child, and keep young children out of the densest areas. Our Umrah with family guide covers children’s permits, strollers, wheelchair Tawaf and lost-child centres in more detail.
Small things Pakistani pilgrims often forget
- A power bank and a Saudi SIM or roaming plan, because Nusuk permits live in the app.
- Comfortable, broken-in sandals; you will walk several kilometres a day.
- Some Saudi riyals in cash for small purchases near the Haram.
- Photocopies of passports and visas, kept separately from the originals.
- An Eid outfit, if you are staying for Eid prayer.

Ramadan Umrah from Pakistan: FAQs

When is Ramadan 2027 expected to start?

What is the last date to get an Umrah visa for Ramadan?
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has set 9 March 2027 (1 Shawwal 1448) as the last day for issuing Umrah visas this season. The last entry date is 23 March and the last departure date is 7 April 2027. Apply weeks earlier, not in the final days.
How early should I book a Ramadan Umrah from Pakistan?
For the last ten nights, book flights and hotels in November or December, and submit the visa 3 to 4 weeks before you fly. The first and middle ashra are more flexible, but early booking still means closer hotels and better fares.
