If you hold a Pakistani passport and want to visit Baku, the ASAN Visa is the official way to get your Azerbaijan e-visa online. There is no embassy appointment and no passport submission. You fill in a form on the government portal, pay by card and receive a PDF visa by email. The one real decision is which speed to pick: the standard e-visa, issued within three working days, or the urgent e-visa, issued within three hours, even on weekends and public holidays.

This guide explains how the two options differ, when the urgent fee is worth paying, how to apply step by step from Pakistan and how to check or verify your visa afterwards. For the full document list and visa types, see our main Baku visa requirements for Pakistan page. Every figure below was checked against official Azerbaijani sources on 12 October 2026. Azerbaijan’s authorities make the final decision on every application, so treat the timings as official targets, not promises.

What Is the ASAN Visa?

ASAN Visa is the name of Azerbaijan’s electronic visa system. It is run by the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and it issues single-entry e-visas to citizens of the countries on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ approved list. Pakistan is on that list, which is why most Pakistani tourists visiting Baku never need to visit the embassy in Islamabad.

The e-visa allows a stay of up to 30 days within a 90-day validity window. It is a single-entry visa, so once you leave Azerbaijan you need a new e-visa for your next trip. You also cannot apply for a new one while you are still inside the country.

The only official ASAN Visa website

The official portal is evisa.gov.az. That matters, because a search for “asan visa” or “azerbaijan e visa official website” brings up many look-alike sites. Some use a similar logo, an extra letter in the domain or a different ending, and they add their own “processing” fees on top of the government charge. Before you type any passport details, check that the address bar shows exactly evisa.gov.az.

If you use an agent, ask which site they file on and ask for the government fee to be shown separately from the service charge. That is how Easy Visa quotes every Azerbaijan file.

What the ASAN Visa does not cover

The e-visa is for tourism, family visits and short business trips. It does not allow paid work; Azerbaijan’s conditions require a work visa for employment. If someone offers you a “job visa” through the ASAN portal, treat it as a warning sign.

Urgent vs Standard ASAN Visa: Fee, Speed and Validity

Both options lead to the same visa: single entry, 30 days’ stay, 90 days’ validity. What changes is how fast it is issued, how much you pay and when its validity starts.

The standard e-visa

The standard ASAN Visa costs US$29: a US$20 state fee, which Azerbaijan charges for reviewing the application, plus a US$9 service fee. At about Rs 277 to the dollar in mid-October 2026, that is roughly Rs 8,000 before your bank’s foreign-transaction charge. Azerbaijan’s portal says applications must go in at least three working days before your planned arrival, and the visa’s first valid day is set at least three working days after you submit.

“Working days” is the key phrase: weekends and Azerbaijani public holidays do not count.

The urgent e-visa

The urgent ASAN Visa is issued within three hours regardless of holidays and non-working days. It is valid from the day it is issued, and you can apply as little as three hours before arrival. Its fee is higher. The government’s information page lists the US$29 standard charge but does not print the urgent amount; the portal shows the exact total on the payment step before you confirm. Independent 2026 guides report about US$60 plus the US$9 service fee. Use the figure on your screen, not any blog or agent quote, including ours, if they differ.

Three hours is the official target, not a guarantee. A blurred passport scan or a payment problem can still cause a refusal, and the urgent fee is not refunded either.

When the Azerbaijan Urgent e-Visa Is Worth It

For most Pakistani families planning a Baku holiday weeks ahead, the standard e-visa is the sensible choice. Paying more only buys time, and time only matters when you are short of it. These are the situations where the urgent option earns its fee.

  • Your flight is less than three working days away. A last-minute AZAL seat or a short-notice business meeting is the classic case. A standard e-visa simply would not be valid in time.
  • A weekend or holiday sits in the middle. Apply on a Friday for a Monday departure and the standard clock may not even have started. The urgent route keeps running on non-working days.
  • A standard visa was refused and you have found the mistake. If a refusal email points to something you can fix, such as an unreadable scan, a fresh urgent application can rescue the trip. Remember that a corrected application is a new application with a new fee.
  • A family emergency. If you must reach a relative in Azerbaijan quickly, urgent processing is the realistic route.

When the urgent fee is wasted money

If you are travelling in more than a week, choose standard. The visa is valid for 90 days, so there is no benefit in getting it “early” through the urgent queue. Many Pakistani travellers also pay urgent because an agent told them it improves approval chances. It does not. Both options are checked under the same Migration Code rules; urgent is faster, not easier.

A practical rule we use with clients: apply standard as soon as your dates are firm, ideally a week or more before departure, and keep urgent as the backup for genuine time pressure. If you are unsure which applies to your dates, send your travel date to Easy Visa on WhatsApp and we will tell you honestly whether urgent is needed.

Booking flights around your visa

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) runs direct flights from Lahore and Islamabad to Baku, a flight of under four hours. Others route through the Gulf: the low-cost carrier flydubai connects several Pakistani cities to Baku via Dubai, and flydubai’s profile on IATA.co lists its FZ code and Dubai hub, which helps when you read a connecting ticket. With a standard e-visa, book flights only after the visa arrives, or choose a changeable fare. Our Baku trip from Pakistan guide covers routes, budgets and a five-day plan.

How to Apply for the ASAN Visa from Pakistan, Step by Step

The application takes about 15 to 20 minutes if your documents are ready. You need your passport, a clear colour scan or photo of the passport’s photo page, your travel dates, a Baku address (your hotel is fine), a working email address and an international-enabled bank card.

  1. Open evisa.gov.az. Type the address yourself rather than clicking an advert. Choose standard or urgent on the first screen.
  2. Select Pakistan as the country that issued your passport. The portal warns that the country must match the passport you will travel on. If you hold dual nationality, choose the passport you will actually use; an e-visa on a different passport is invalid.
  3. Choose individual or family. A family application covers 2 to 10 people. A child listed in a parent’s passport still needs their own details entered.
  4. Enter personal and travel details exactly as printed in the passport. Name order, date of birth and passport number must match the machine-readable lines. Enter your arrival date and Baku address.
  5. Upload the passport photo page. The scan must be sharp, uncropped and readable. Azerbaijan’s conditions say an e-visa is refused if the system cannot read the copy.
  6. Check everything, then pay. Pay online by Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay or JCB. The card does not need to be in your name, which helps when a parent pays for the family. Ask your bank to enable international online payments first.
  7. Keep the acceptance email. After payment you get a confirmation by email and on screen. Save the registration number it contains.
  8. Download and print the e-visa. The visa is not stuck in your passport. Print the A4 PDF and carry it with your passport; keep a copy on your phone as well.

Documents to keep with you when you fly

The e-visa form is short, but Pakistani travellers are still checked by airline staff and at the border. Carry your printed e-visa, return ticket, hotel booking and enough money for your stay. Our Azerbaijan visa document checklist lists the supporting papers that help at immigration.

Azerbaijan e-Visa Check, Download and Verification

After submitting, most applicants simply wait for the email. If it does not arrive, or if you want to confirm the visa is genuine, the portal has a status page.

How to check your ASAN Visa status

Go to the official status page and enter your registration number (a short code such as A2C-B2E4 sent to you by email), or your email address and passport number if you have lost it. When the processing period ends you will see whether the e-visa was issued or refused, and the result is also emailed to you. Check your spam folder first; a mistyped email address is one of the most common reasons people never see their visa.

How to verify an Azerbaijan e-visa

“How to verify Azerbaijan e visa” is a common search, usually from people who used an agent. Every genuine e-visa is an A4 document with a machine-readable code in the upper-right corner, and it can be re-printed from the portal or the original email if lost. If an agent only sends a screenshot or a document you cannot find on the official status page, ask for your registration number and check it yourself. The ASAN Visa team also answers queries about a visa’s validity and credibility through the contact details on evisa.gov.az.

What a refusal means

If your e-visa is refused, the reason is emailed to you, citing Article 16 of Azerbaijan’s Migration Code. Payments are not refunded. You may apply again through an Azerbaijani diplomatic mission, which for most readers means the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Islamabad. Its ASAN Visa information page confirms the same standard and urgent rules. Before re-applying, fix the cause; a second identical application usually meets the same result.

Living in the Gulf? Faster Legitimate Options

Many Pakistanis who visit Baku actually fly from Dubai, Riyadh, Muscat or Doha, where they live and work. For them Azerbaijan offers a route that is faster still than an urgent e-visa.

According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, holders of a residence permit valid for more than six months in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar or Kuwait, and holders of a UAE resident visa valid for more than six months, are entitled to a visa at Azerbaijan’s international airports for a stay of up to 30 days. This depends on your residence, not your Pakistani passport, so carry the original residence card and make sure it has more than six months left.

Two cautions apply. First, check with your airline before departure, because carriers can refuse boarding if they are unsure of your documents. Second, if your residence is close to the six-month limit or recently renewed, an e-visa is the safer choice. Our Dubai visa from Pakistan guide is useful if you are planning a UAE stop on the same trip.

Other things that are not shortcuts

There is no general visa on arrival for Pakistani passport holders flying in from Pakistan, and you should be wary of anyone selling a “same-day embassy tourist visa”; the e-visa is the standard tourist route. The Ministry did announce visas on arrival from 22 September to 5 November 2026 for the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival, but only for people holding an official AFFA invitation or FIFA accreditation; ordinary tourists still need the e-visa. Passengers who stay inside the international transit area at Baku airport do not need a visa at all.

Mistakes That Delay or Void an ASAN Visa

Most ASAN Visa problems we see from Pakistan are small and avoidable. Azerbaijan’s FAQ is clear that the applicant carries responsibility for any mistake, and there are no refunds.

  • Name or passport number typed differently from the passport. An e-visa that does not match your travel document is invalid, even if it was issued. You must apply and pay again.
  • Passport validity too short. Your passport must stay valid at least three months beyond the e-visa’s expiry. Since the visa is valid for 90 days, in practice you want roughly six months left on the day you apply. Renew first if you are close.
  • Blurred, cropped or glare-covered scans. Take the photo flat, in daylight, with all four corners and both machine-readable lines visible.
  • Applying on a look-alike site. You may pay double, and some never file the visa at all. Only evisa.gov.az is official.
  • Card blocked for international payments. Pakistani debit cards often need online international transactions switched on in the banking app first.
  • Counting calendar days instead of working days. A standard visa applied for on Friday afternoon may not be ready for Monday.
  • Forgetting registration on longer stays. The portal’s conditions say anyone staying more than 15 days must be registered with the State Migration Service, normally by the hotel or host, free of charge; its FAQ still mentions 10 days and the State Migration Service website. If you stay beyond 10 days, confirm registration with your hotel at check-in.
  • Overstaying the 30 days. Overstays and missed registration are penalised under Azerbaijan’s administrative code. Book your return within the 30-day limit.

ASAN Visa FAQs for Pakistani Travellers

Is the Azerbaijan urgent e-visa still available for Pakistanis?

Yes. As of 12 October 2026, the official ASAN Visa portal and Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs both state that an urgent e-visa is issued within three hours, regardless of holidays and non-working days. Pakistan remains on the e-visa list.

How much is the ASAN Visa for Pakistani citizens?

The standard e-visa costs US$29 (US$20 state fee plus US$9 service fee), roughly Rs 8,000. The urgent e-visa costs more; the portal shows the exact amount before payment. Fees are non-refundable.

How long does the Azerbaijan e-visa take?

Standard applications are issued within three working days and urgent applications within three hours. These are official processing targets; incomplete or unreadable applications can be refused.

Does the Azerbaijan e-visa require a return ticket?

The online form does not ask you to upload a ticket. However, airlines and border officers can ask about your plans, so carry a return or onward ticket and your hotel booking.

Can I extend my ASAN Visa inside Azerbaijan?

The e-visa allows up to 30 days. Extensions of temporary stay are handled by the State Migration Service, not the ASAN portal, and are not automatic. Plan your trip within 30 days.

Can Easy Visa guarantee my Azerbaijan e-visa?

No one can guarantee it. Azerbaijan’s authorities decide every application. What we can do is make sure your application is complete, accurate and filed on the official portal, which removes the most common reasons for refusal.
