A Maldives trip from Pakistan is far simpler than most people expect. Pakistani passport holders do not apply for a visa in advance: the Maldives grants a free tourist visa on arrival, usually for up to 30 days, to travellers who meet its entry rules. The real questions are practical: which flight from Lahore, Karachi or Islamabad to take, what the whole trip costs in rupees, and whether a resort or a local-island guesthouse fits your budget.
This guide answers those questions for Pakistani couples, families and friends planning four to six nights in the Maldives. For the full entry rules, document list and IMUGA steps, read our detailed Maldives visit visa from Pakistan guide first; here we focus on planning and budget. Entry facts were checked on official Maldives Immigration pages on 14 October 2026. Prices are approximate market ranges seen in October 2026, not fixed fees, and they move with the season, the rupee and how early you book.

Why a Maldives Trip from Pakistan Is Easier Than You Think

For many Pakistani families, the Maldives sounds like a celebrity destination: expensive, far away and complicated. In practice it is one of the easiest international holidays you can plan from Pakistan, for three reasons.
No visa application before you fly. Maldives Immigration states that tourists do not need pre-approval. You land at Velana International Airport in Male, show your passport, booking, return ticket and IMUGA declaration, and the officer grants entry if you meet the rules. There is no embassy appointment, no visa fee and no weeks of waiting.
It feels familiar. The Maldives is a Muslim country. Every inhabited island has a mosque, the call to prayer carries across the water, and food on local islands is halal. Pakistani couples and families often say they felt more at ease here than in many Western beach destinations. Local islands follow conservative norms, so modest clothing is expected away from the designated tourist beach.
It is closer than it looks. With a good connection in Colombo or the Gulf, the journey from Karachi or Lahore usually takes about 7 to 11 hours, and the Maldives shares Pakistan’s time zone, so there is no jet lag.
Who the Maldives suits best
Honeymooners are the biggest group of Pakistani visitors, but the Maldives also suits families with children happy in shallow lagoons, and friends on a budget who stay on local islands. It is less suited to travellers who want shopping or city sightseeing; the islands are about sea, sand and quiet.
Maldives Flights from Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad

There is no regular nonstop flight between Pakistan and the Maldives, so every Maldives flight from Pakistan has at least one connection. Several of those connections are short.
Via Colombo: often the quickest from Karachi and Lahore
SriLankan Airlines flies nonstop from Karachi and Lahore to Colombo several times a week, roughly a three-and-a-half to four-hour flight, and connects onward to Male in about an hour and a half. If you are comparing fares, SriLankan Airlines’ code and hub listing on IATA.co shows its UL code and Colombo base, which makes it easier to read the flight numbers on a connecting ticket. In October 2026, SriLankan’s own fare pages showed return economy fares from about Rs 164,000 from Karachi and about Rs 212,000 from Lahore on selected dates. These are snapshots, not promises.
If you stay airside in Colombo on one ticket, you are a transit passenger. If you want a night or two in Sri Lanka on the way, you need Sri Lanka’s own entry approval; our Sri Lanka visit visa from Pakistan guide explains it, and a combined Sri Lanka and Maldives trip is a popular honeymoon plan.
Via the Gulf: widest choice, including Islamabad
Islamabad has no SriLankan service, so most travellers from the capital connect through the Gulf. Emirates and flydubai route through Dubai, Air Arabia through Sharjah, Etihad through Abu Dhabi and Qatar Airways through Doha. Air Arabia also serves smaller cities such as Peshawar, Multan, Sialkot and Faisalabad. In October 2026, Air Arabia listed Islamabad to Male return fares from about Rs 186,000 on some dates.
What a realistic airfare looks like
For planning, budget roughly Rs 165,000 to Rs 260,000 per person for a return economy ticket in normal months, booked four to eight weeks ahead. Christmas and New Year, Eid holidays and the December to April dry season can push fares above Rs 300,000. Compare total journey time and baggage allowance as well as price: a cheap fare with a nine-hour layover can cost you a holiday day.
Maldives Trip Cost from Pakistan: A Realistic PKR Breakdown

The Maldives trip cost from Pakistan depends mostly on one decision: where you sleep. Flights are similar for everyone, but a night on a local island and a night in an overwater villa can differ by more than ten times. The table below shows approximate October 2026 market ranges for a couple on a five-day, four-night trip, at roughly Rs 280 to the US dollar. Treat these as planning figures, not quotes.
| Cost item (couple, 4 nights) | Local-island budget | Mid-range resort | Luxury resort |
|---|---|---|---|
| Return flights (2 people) | Rs 330,000 to 450,000 | Rs 330,000 to 500,000 | Rs 400,000 and up |
| Accommodation (4 nights, incl. taxes) | Rs 70,000 to 160,000 | Rs 450,000 to 900,000 | Rs 1,200,000 and up |
| Green tax (per person per night) | US$6 (about Rs 13,000 total) | US$12 (about Rs 27,000 total) | US$12 (about Rs 27,000 total) |
| Airport transfers (return, 2 people) | Public ferry or shared speedboat, Rs 3,000 to 45,000 | Resort speedboat, often Rs 60,000 to 170,000 | Seaplane, often Rs 220,000 to 500,000 |
| Food | Rs 40,000 to 70,000 | Half board or all-inclusive, often Rs 100,000 to 250,000 | Usually all-inclusive in the room rate or extra |
| Excursions | Rs 30,000 to 60,000 | Rs 50,000 to 120,000 | Varies widely |
| Rough total for two | Rs 500,000 to 800,000 | Rs 1.1 million to 1.9 million | Rs 2.5 million and up |
Visa fee: zero. The tourist visa on arrival is free, and so is the IMUGA declaration.
The taxes nobody mentions in the advert
Maldives room rates are often shown “++”, which means before taxes. On top you normally pay a 10% service charge and 17% Tourism Goods and Services Tax, which rose from 16% in July 2025. Then comes the green tax, charged per person per night: US$12 at resorts and larger hotels, and US$6 at small guesthouses with 50 or fewer rooms on inhabited islands, according to the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority. A US$400 “++” resort night for two therefore costs well over US$500 once everything is added. Always ask for the all-in price.
What Maldives packages from Pakistan include
Searches for Maldives tour packages from Pakistan are far more common than searches for the trip itself, and the ads can be confusing. In October 2026, Pakistani tour operators were advertising local-island packages from roughly Rs 150,000 to Rs 220,000 per person, which are usually land-only (hotel, breakfast, transfers and an excursion, without flights), and flight-inclusive four-day local-island packages from roughly Rs 300,000 to Rs 350,000 per person. Mid-range resort and honeymoon packages started higher and climbed steeply with the room type. Before paying, check whether flights, green tax, transfers and meals are included, and whether the price is per person or per couple.
Resort or Local-Island Guesthouse? Choosing Your Maldives Package

This choice shapes your trip and your budget. Either way, Maldives Immigration expects a prepaid booking at a registered facility.
Resorts: one island, one hotel
A Maldives resort occupies its own island. You arrive by speedboat or seaplane, and everything, from meals to snorkelling to the spa, happens within that island. Overwater villas, private beaches and house reefs are the reason honeymooners choose resorts. You pay resort prices for every meal, so a half-board or all-inclusive plan usually makes sense. Resorts close to Male, in North and South Male atolls, can be reached by speedboat in 20 to 60 minutes, which saves the seaplane cost.
Local islands: real Maldivian life, a fraction of the price
Since local islands opened to guesthouses, budget travel in the Maldives has become normal. Maafushi, about 30 to 45 minutes by speedboat from the airport, is the best known; Thulusdhoo, Gulhi, Ukulhas, Fulidhoo and Dhigurah are quieter options. Guesthouses there typically cost about US$50 to US$150 a night for a double room with breakfast, plus taxes. You eat in local cafes and join group excursions to sandbanks and reefs.
On local islands, alcohol is not sold and swimwear is only for the designated tourist or “bikini” beach; elsewhere, shoulders and knees are covered. Most Pakistani families find this comfortable.
Speedboat or seaplane?
Speedboats serve islands within roughly an hour of Male. Shared airport speedboats to Maafushi often cost about US$20 to US$40 per person each way, and the government public ferry costs only a few dollars but takes around one and a half to two hours and does not run on Fridays. Seaplanes fly to distant atolls, usually only in daylight, and a return seaplane transfer typically costs about US$400 to US$900 per person. If your international flight lands after dark, a seaplane resort may make you spend your first night in Male, so check transfer times before you book.
The split-stay option
Many Pakistani couples split the trip: three nights in a Maafushi guesthouse, then one or two nights in a resort for the overwater villa experience. You get the photographs and the luxury without paying resort rates for the whole week.
A 5-Day Maldives Itinerary for Pakistani Couples and Families

Five days and four nights is the length most Pakistani travellers choose. This plan assumes a local-island base near Male, with notes for resort guests.
- Day 1: Arrive and settle in. Land at Velana International Airport, clear immigration with your passport, booking, return ticket and IMUGA confirmation, then take your pre-booked speedboat. Spend the evening on the beach and watch the sunset. Resort guests: this is your check-in and orientation day.
- Day 2: Sandbank and snorkelling. Join a half-day snorkelling trip to a reef and a sandbank. Turtles and harmless reef sharks are common sightings, and most operators provide life jackets for non-swimmers. Excursions often cost about US$30 to US$90 per person.
- Day 3: Dolphins and a resort day pass. Take a morning dolphin cruise, then spend the afternoon at a nearby resort on a day pass, usually from about US$90 per person, for the pool, lunch and the famous white-sand look. Resort guests can swap this for a spa session or a sunset fishing trip.
- Day 4: Male city and a slow afternoon. Take the morning boat to Male. Visit the Old Friday Mosque, Hukuru Miskiy, with its coral-stone walls, walk through the fish and fruit markets, and pray at the Grand Friday Mosque if you wish. Return for a final swim and a beachfront dinner.
- Day 5: Departure. Check your departure flight time against the boat timetable; book a transfer that gets you to the airport at least three hours before an international flight.
Adjusting the plan for families and honeymooners
With young children, swap the long boat trips for shallow-lagoon swimming and choose a guesthouse or resort with a calm beach. Honeymooners can replace Day 4 in Male with a private sandbank picnic or a dinner on the beach. With six nights, add a quieter second island such as Thulusdhoo or Fulidhoo.
Visa on Arrival and IMUGA: Your Pre-Departure Checklist

Your Maldives trip from Pakistan needs no visa application, but it does need the right papers. Airlines check them before boarding, and immigration checks them again in Male. Here is the short version; our complete Maldives visa on arrival guide for Pakistanis covers every point in detail.
- Passport. A machine-readable Pakistani passport with at least one month’s validity, according to Maldives Immigration. Passports with hand-extended validity are not accepted. Airlines on Gulf and Colombo routes often prefer six months, so renew early if you are close.
- Confirmed return ticket. A one-way ticket is not enough for a tourist.
- Prepaid, confirmed booking at a registered resort, hotel or guesthouse for your whole stay. A booking that is unpaid or not registered with the Maldives tourism ministry can cause problems at the counter.
- Sufficient funds for the stay. No fixed official amount is published, so carry an international card and some US dollar cash, and keep a recent bank statement on your phone.
- IMUGA Traveller Declaration. Submit it free on the official IMUGA portal within 96 hours before arrival. Every traveller needs their own declaration, including children and babies. Keep the confirmation or QR code ready.
- Children’s passports. Every child needs their own passport.
- Yellow fever certificate only if you are arriving from, or recently travelled through, a country with yellow fever risk. Travellers flying straight from Pakistan normally do not need one, but check if you have recently been in Africa or South America.
Two warnings. First, only use imuga.immigration.gov.mv: look-alike websites charge “processing fees” for a form that is free. Second, Maldives Immigration is clear that even a complete itinerary does not guarantee entry; officers decide admissibility at the port of entry under the Maldives Immigration Act. Consistent, genuine papers are what make the process smooth.

Budget Tips and Mistakes to Avoid

These are the mistakes we see most often with Pakistani travellers.
- Comparing “++” prices with all-in prices. A resort at US$300 “++” and another at US$350 all-in may cost about the same. Always compare the final figure after service charge, TGST and green tax.
- Forgetting the transfer. A cheap resort with a compulsory seaplane can cost more than a pricier resort reached by speedboat. Ask for the transfer price before you book the room.
- Landing late for a far-away island. Seaplanes stop at dusk, and some speedboats stop in the evening. A late arrival can mean an unplanned hotel night in Male or Hulhumale.
- Travelling on a Friday by ferry. Public ferries do not run on Fridays. Plan arrivals or island hops on other days, or budget for a speedboat.
- Booking the peak without thinking. December to April is dry and sunny but expensive. May to October brings more rain but lower room rates, and November is a good shoulder month.
- Paying an unregistered “guesthouse” in cash. Book a registered property. An informal room with no booking confirmation will not satisfy immigration.
- Cards blocked abroad. Switch on international transactions in your banking app before travel, and carry some clean US dollar notes.
- Skipping travel insurance. Medical evacuation from an outer atoll is expensive.
Smart ways to save without spoiling the trip
Book six to eight weeks ahead, travel midweek and choose a speedboat-distance resort over a seaplane one. Maldives Trip from Pakistan FAQs

How much does a trip to the Maldives cost from Pakistan?
As a rough October 2026 guide, a four-night local-island trip for two costs about Rs 500,000 to Rs 800,000 including flights, and a mid-range resort trip about Rs 1.1 million to Rs 1.9 million. Luxury overwater villas with seaplane transfers start around Rs 2.5 million. Prices change with the season and the exchange rate.
Do Pakistanis need a visa for the Maldives?
Pakistani tourists do not apply in advance. The Maldives grants a free tourist visa on arrival, usually up to 30 days, if you meet the entry requirements and submit the IMUGA declaration within 96 hours before arrival.
Is there a direct flight from Pakistan to the Maldives?
No regular nonstop flight operates. Most travellers connect in Colombo with SriLankan Airlines or in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi or Doha with Gulf airlines. Total journey time is usually about 7 to 11 hours.
How many days are enough for the Maldives?
Four to six nights suits most Pakistani couples and families.
Is the Maldives halal-friendly for Pakistani families?
Yes. The Maldives is a Muslim country, local islands serve halal food and have mosques, and modest dress is normal. If halal meat at a resort matters to you, confirm it with the resort before booking.
Can Easy Visa guarantee my entry to the Maldives?
No one can. Maldives Immigration officers decide entry on arrival. What we can do is make sure your passport, booking, ticket, funds evidence and IMUGA declaration are complete and consistent, which removes the most common reasons for problems at the counter.
